Modeling
Blocking with Simple Shapes
Started with basic primitives such as cubes, spheres, cones and tori, then combined and adjusted them to form the character.
The focus was on capturing the overall form, silhouette and proportions first, keeping details simple and readable for a stylized look.
Lighting
Shaping the Portrait
Adjusted the direction and intensity of key, fill and rim lights to emphasize the face and shoulders while keeping the background darker.
Camera framing and focal length were tuned together with the lights to preserve the iconic composition of the original painting.
Texturing
Simple Shaders, Clean Colours
Used mostly solid colours with subtle gradients, controlling roughness and metallic values to get different surface feels for skin, cloth and the pearl. No image textures were used – everything was kept simple to match the soft, graphic style.
Rendering
Final Output
Rendered the final image using Cycles instead of Eevee to achieve softer light bounce and contact shadows.
Post-processing was kept minimal – mainly exposure, contrast and a slight vignette – so the character and colours remain clean and bold.
